About Jim
Making is Learning.
I see the world as a set of interconnected systems — people, business, culture, design — and that lens has become my most valuable problem-solving tool. But solving problems was never the whole point. My fuel is curiosity. Building Part and Sum has given me an outlet for that curiosity and, just as importantly, surrounded me with people who share it.
About Jim
I'm a leader, entrepreneur, and builder who has spent 15+ years bringing new products to market, scaling them, and helping organizations uncover opportunities they didn't know they had. I specialize in design and systems thinking helping teams see more clearly, think more ambitiously, and act on what they learn. I'm a lover of systems in all their forms: economics, game design, fermentation, you name it. I've had the chance to work with organizations of every size and shape — from startups and non-profits to Fortune 500 enterprises like Target, Google, Nike, JP Morgan, the United Nations, and The Nature Conservancy.
I co-founded Part and Sum to scale the impact of figure-it-out-itude to more organizations and bigger challenges and to mentor the next generation of problem-solving leaders. I've also gone deep on my passion for game design, selling hundreds of thousands of games and teaching Game Design at Hunter College in NYC.
When we're not collaborating...
I'm learning what it really means to lead a smart, driven, and talented team. And I'm exploring new ways to think, write, and build in a networked world.
